Well... school ended virtually 1 month ago and I think we are all still exhausted! I have been working on writing a couple of journal articles to submit for publishing and haven't blogged for a while, but I wanted to take the time to recognize the amazing educators and supporters of education who have worked tirelessly over the last few weeks. The amount of hard work teachers put into their students is completely underestimated by anyone who isn't directly in contact with a teacher.

It may not be "teacher appreciation week" but thank a teacher for their hard work! I've already received emails from teachers asking about next year's curriculum maps. I see teachers tagging their grade levels to posts on Facebook for ideas to use next school year. I hear teachers thinking out loud about their team, their classroom decor, and how they are going to roll out small groups.

Teachers. Just. Don't. Stop.

And the craziest part of it all, is that as of right now, we really don't know what next year is going to look like. Will some of our kids be virtual? Will we be together in shifts? The flexibility and willingness to do what is best for kids (in the total dark) makes teachers unlike any profession. And I wouldn't have expected anything less from teachers. The teachers I know and have worked with in any capacity over the last 10+ years are phenomenal.

If anyone is going to change the world, it's going to be teachers. Teachers teach students of all races, religions, ethnicity. We love, mentor, and grow these tiny humans every day. These tiny humans will grow into the future of our county; our world. How we pour love, acceptance, tolerance, & work ethic into our students will make an impact. They will remember their teachers. Teachers, this is not easy. It is exhausting at times, but always rewarding.

So, we've got 1 month left until we are back at it, whatever that is going to look like. Please take care of yourself and your family. Yes, do some planning. Find adorable ideas on Pinterest & Facebook. Make some plans. But please rest up. We know whatever is going to happen will most definitely change many more times before August. And once we are back in what we think is the new "normal", you know it's going to change again. August will be here before you know it & we are going to need 100% of you as we concur this mid to post pandemic, 2020-2021 school year.

Teachers, you are superheroes. You are catalysts for world wide change. You deserve leaders from all levels who believe in you! I can never say that enough!
